How we pick
Every guide follows the same four steps. Each guide also has its own “How we picked” section with the criteria for that category.
1. We set the criteria first
Before comparing anything, we write down what a product needs to qualify: a weight limit, a use, a price range. Those criteria appear at the end of each guide.
2. We compare the spec sheets
Weight, materials, dimensions, ratings, available sizes and versions, taken from the manufacturer and compared side by side. When we do the math, the math shows in the text.
3. We read what owners report
We read owner reviews and forum threads, starting with the unhappy ones, because that's where the recurring problems show up. A problem goes in a guide when it comes up again and again, and we say how often in plain words.
4. We name one pick, and its flaws
Each product gets a line on who it suits, who should skip it, and a “Flaws but not dealbreakers” section that points to the better choice when a flaw matters to you. Products that didn't make the cut are listed under “The competition”, with the reason.
Updates
When a model changes or a better option appears, the guide changes and the update log at the bottom says what moved. Prices on product blocks come from Amazon and carry the time they were read (more on prices).
