Choosing a backpack or a tent can take hours, and a wrong choice gets paid for on the trail, usually on the second morning, when the pack starts digging into your shoulders.
What you get from every guide
I do the comparing for you and tell you which one to buy. Safety comes first, then how long the gear will last: a good pick should still be in your pack a few seasons from now.
When a model changes or something better comes out, the guide changes too, and the date under its title shows when.
Who picks the gear
I'm Alex Hart. Most of my hiking is day trails in Pisgah National Forest. I spend a few nights in a tent up toward Shining Rock, and when I can, I head for bigger mountains, sometimes abroad, like the Julian Alps in Slovenia.
